A catalog of the heavens
Date:
Vastly beyond is the endless sea of the deep and dark waters.
In this expanse lies the active forms of the great orbs.
They collect themselves together from pin pricks over the ages.
Some form the great shining ones, the burning ones.
The great shining ones are luminous: overwhelming with light,
And they radiate princely samples of the spectrum.
There is the blue, the yellow, the red, and the white.
All of the bodies in the heavens hold some sway.
But these do slowly burn away.
Some form the dim orbs, not as brightly shining.
One is a crystal sphere, another is glowing molten rock.
One is an iron core, for it once was shining,
Only in reflection, the light of the nearby shiners
Is shared by these dim fellows.
These grow one slow and small remain.
All of the bodies in the heavens hold some sway.
Dim are these, but their own quirks have they.
By great mass alone are all orbs pulled in.
But the strength of mass by the dark ones is held.
Some are the dark ones; collapsed to a point long ago.
The great, dread dark orbs once were something else.
These most massive shining ones became too great,
And now shall they shine no longer.
But still they serve as a lens for the light of the truly shining.
Nothing escapes the fatal grasp once it is close enough.
All of the bodies in the heavens hold some sway.
But even these are not here to stay.
