Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks

A trail of books to ancient Christian teaching

Date:

For some, more than others, it is important to understand God as much as one can with one's own mind. Good books can help with that. I offer the following short sequence of books which are part of my journey of intellectual acceptance of God and spiritual life.

  1. Searching for Stars on an Island in Maine - Alan Lightman
  2. Walden - Henry David Thoreau
  3. Aristotle for Everybody - Mortimer J. Adler
  4. * The Last Supersition - Edward Feser
  5. God's Revelation to the Human Heart - Fr. Seraphim Rose
  6. The Way of a Pilgrim
  7. Orthodoxy and Heterodoxy - Andrew Steven Damick

So, I hope that reading these books in this order it will be helpful for someone. If I were to make a longer list, then first I would add Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis and then more of Feser's books.

* The Last Superstition, which makes an essential proof that God exists, is the crux of this list.
